SERVING RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITIES FROM MIDDLE POINT TO EARLS COVE/EGMONT

Urgent Call to Action

Protect Your Waterfront Property Rights!    Tonight’s SCRD public meeting could drastically impact all waterfront and watercourse owners. Don’t let your voice go unheard! Drop in anytime between 6:30 and 8 pm at the SCRD boardroom (1975 Field Road, Sechelt). Changes under the SCRD Riparian and Shoreline Protection Bylaw Amendments (Amending Zoning Bylaw No. 722.9 and 337.123) include:

  • New setbacks and buffer bylaws threaten to limit what you can do on your own property
  • Even properties with ditches or seasonal streams may be affected
  • Potential to make some undeveloped lots unbuildable
  • Risk of restricting safe water access for property owners
  • Lack of transparency: SCRD claims “housekeeping,” but these are major changes

Your presence matters! Take the opportunity to question the SCRD directly. Help prevent these overreaching regulations from becoming reality. The bylaw changes have already gone through two readings and will become official after the third reading which will follow a public hearing on July 16.

Can’t attend? Make your voice heard by email: Send your official comments to publicmeetings@scrd.ca before July 16 when a public hearing will be held. Further information about that meeting can be found atscrd.ca/public-hearings.

Act now to preserve your property rights and the future of our waterfront community!
