A court date is set for the next step in our legal challenge to the DRIPA. Our lawyers will be before the BC Supreme Court in Vancouver on December 15, 2025 asking the court for a ruling to change our original “petition” to a civil claim. This is a procedural step made necessary after the government rescinded the Order in Council related to negotiating a DRIPA decision-making agreement with the shíshálh over Land Act tenures.
The government itself previously took the position this procedural path was required but despite that is now opposing PHARA’s request. We expect to have to fight every step of this battle, and we will.
