The following letter was emailed by the Pender Harbour and Area Residents Association on Thursday, September 19, 2024 to Nathan Cullen, Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, Deputy Minister Lori Halls and Premier David Eby. We received a response from the Province Nov. 14, 2024.

You are receiving this email as an interested party of the shíshálh swiya Dock Management Plan updates. The Province and shíshálh have released the shíshálh swiya self-registration system for existing tenured and untenured private moorage
docks and boathouses within the shíshálh swiya. Please self-register now to receive a General Permission for your existing structure.

PHARA is not aware of any legal obligation for residents to provide this registration. Can you please advise if the province takes the position that the registration is voluntary or mandatory (and if the latter, the legal basis for same)?
