Province has yet to respond to PHARA’s previous letter.
On October 14, 2025, the Pender Harbour & Area Residents Association (PHARA) formally wrote to Premier David Eby calling on the Province of British Columbia to immediately pause all negotiations related to the recognition of Aboriginal Title on the Sunshine Coast — and elsewhere in the province — until the Cowichan Tribes appeal process has been fully resolved.
That letter was circulated broadly, including to major provincial media outlets, senior members of Cabinet, opposition leadership, regional and municipal authorities, and the heads of several of British Columbia’s leading business and civic organizations.
Despite the seriousness of the legal issues raised — and despite the far-reaching implications of the Province’s actions for land governance, investment certainty, municipal authority, and the public interest — the Province has not replied, acknowledged receipt, or provided any clarification whatsoever.
Accordingly, on January 7, 2026, PHARA issued the following formal follow-up letter to Premier Eby and the same group of senior stakeholders, seeking clear confirmation of the Province’s intentions.
