SERVING RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITIES FROM MIDDLE POINT TO EARLS COVE/EGMONT

DOCK MANAGEMENT/LAND ACT/SECTION 7

Background & Timeline

Section 7 Negotiations

Section 7 negotiations between the provincial government and the shíshálh Nation are happening in secret. These talks, under the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, could dramatically alter how our foreshore areas are managed – without our input.

Why Should You Care?

The DMP and Section 7 are direct threats to:

  • Your property rights if you own waterfront land
  • Your ability to enjoy our coastal waters
  • Local businesses that depend on marine traffic
  • The economic viability of our entire community
The Real Issues

We’re fighting against:

  • Astronomical compliance costs for dock owners
  • Unreasonable restrictions that ignore local needs
  • Lack of grandfathering for existing structures
  • Potential environmental damage from forced dock alterations
  • Devastating economic impacts on our community
What's Happening Now?

The government is trying to expand the DMP to cover most of the Sunshine Coast. We’re pushing back hard, demanding transparency, fairness, and respect for our community’s needs.

We need your voice to protect our rights and our way of life. Get informed, speak out, and support our efforts to challenge these unfair regulations.
